Speed dating is the fun new alternative in the dating scene. Compared to barhopping and online dating that is.Unlike normal dating circumstances, you got five to 10 minutes to meet and create chemistry.
Because of this limited time, the way you dress and the questions you ask are all more important.
But before we get into what questions to ask, it’s also best to know what not to ask.
It’s wise to avoid weighty or sensitive areas such as politics and religion, and as far as your own answers go, you won’t be showing yourself in the best light if you rattle on about your previous dates, how you miss your ex and how much you used to love sex.
Dress well. Do not tell lies or have unrealistic expectations. Avoid swearing and controversial topics.
Of course it’s okay to ask your general basic questions, if you choose to:
-What is your job?
-Do you go to school?
-What’s your age?
-How long have you lived in this city?
-What do you do for fun?
-Do you have any pets?
These are perfectly okay questions to really see if the two of you are a match.
I remember attending my first speed dating event several years ago. During that time I received coaching from my mentor, she gave me a great tip.
She said, “Have fun, just be very original. Ask thought-provoking questions because daters are more likely to remember you”.
I walked away with two matches for follow-up dates for the following week. Not bad for a shy-introverted guy.
Anyways, here are some fun questions to help you stand slightly out of crowd:
-If you were given $20 million dollars tomorrow, what would you spend it on?
-Which television show would you cancel a date with me for?
-Do you believe in love at first sight? You can decide whether he/she is a romantic person or not.
-If you were an animal in the wild, what would you be? Amusing question to get the flirt on. Flirting is encouraged.
-If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
-What is your favorite sporting activity?
-Which is your favorite genre of movies – comedy/thriller/action?
-What would you take with you to a deserted island and why?
-If you had to be someone else for a day, who would you be and why?
-If you could invite anyone, dead or alive, to dinner, who would it be?
-What’s the most crazy, reckless thing you’ve ever done?
-If you were to star in a movie, who would you like as your co-star?
-What would be the title of your biography?
There are numerous other questions you can ask on a speed date if you rack your brains enough about it. Make conversation fun again, there are so many crazy things to discuss and enjoy!
So remember, you must remember to be confident. Act confident even if you are not. Have fun and have a positive attitude.
This is not a contest, it’s just speed dating. Have fun and be carefree.
